Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a debilitating condition that affects around 15 per cent of the British population. It is the most common gastrointestinal disorder. The symptoms include stomach cramps, diarrhoea, constipation, and nausea.

It appears to have a strong psychosomatic component, and is therefore a prime candidate for hypnotherapeutic intervention.

To date no definitive cure has been found, but one of the most successful IBS treatment centres is the Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester. There eminent IBS specialist Professor Peter Whorwell, has introduced a treatment plan utilising hypnosis which is producing remarkable results and is being hailed as the most exciting breakthrough in IBS treatment in recent times.

Results of tests carried out at the Wythenshawe showed that nearly three quarters of patients benefitted from the hypnotic treatment.

Not surprisingly, the hospital's staff of hypnotherapists are grappling with a huge waiting list as news of their success reaches the wider public.

IBS hypnotherapy teaches clients how to take control of their bowel, allowing them to bring some equilibrium back into their lives.

If you suffer from this distressing condition and have yet to find an acceptable solution, you might want to consider hypnotherapy. In the first instance though, you must consult your GP prior to seeking therapeutic assistance.
